Lebenshilfe Freising celebrates its 55th anniversary. It advocates for the rights, needs and participation of people with disabilities in the region.
Freising - Lebenshilfe Freising was founded in 1968 as a parents' association and has developed continuously since then. It is now a recognized organization that is committed to the promotion of people with disabilities in various areas of life such as education, work, housing and leisure activities.
The top priority is an inclusive society in which people with disabilities can participate and develop their potential on an equal footing. In fact, however, the respective inclusion efforts often fail due to the sometimes rigid society or bureaucracy.
In the course of its 55 years of existence, Lebenshilfe Freising has repeatedly initiated numerous projects and programs to actively support people with disabilities and to represent their rights. These include, for example, the construction of various residential buildings, the promotion of inclusive education in integrative day-care centres and raising awareness of the needs of people with disabilities in society.
A milestone in the work of Lebenshilfe was, among other things, the establishment of the Freising Education Center Gartenstraße, BiG for short, eleven years ago, which houses the Integrative Crèche, the Curative Education Kindergarten, the Integrative After-School Care Center, the Curative Education Day Care Center and the private support center with a focus on mental development - school with a profile of inclusion.
Focus on inclusion and participation
Over the past decades, the association has also worked closely with other organisations, communities, companies and the local community to jointly improve the living conditions of people with disabilities. The approach of inclusion and participation was always emphasized in order to enable people with disabilities to participate in social life on an equal footing.
"The 55th anniversary of Lebenshilfe Freising is a reason to celebrate and at the same time a moment to look back on the many successes and achievements that we have achieved over the years together with our members, partners and supporters," says Johannes Reicheneder, Managing Director of Lebenshilfe Freising. "We are proud to contribute to the promotion of inclusion and participation of people with disabilities in our region and will continue to advocate for their rights and needs in the future."
Start for outpatient care service
The fact that Lebenshilfe Freising is also taking innovative approaches is currently shown by the filling of the position of care coordination on June 1 with funding from Aktion Mensch. The relatively new funding programme supports reform movements by companies such as Lebenshilfe Freising in order to professionalise and expand nursing services explicitly from the core business of integration assistance. In the medium term, this new service is intended to strengthen the actual pedagogical work and professionalism in its development and innovation towards (more) participation and inclusion.

Diana Flammann, who previously worked as an independent nursing consultant and coordinator for the district of Freising, was entrusted with the task of optimising the quality of care in the facilities of Lebenshilfe Freising, developing binding standards of care, developing the conceptual orientation of a care service specialising in people with intellectual disabilities, ensuring the economic viability of this service, meeting the admission requirements for the To organize health/long-term care insurance companies and finally to set up a nursing service at Lebenshilfe Freising on this basis.

As part of the anniversary year, the Freising association, which currently employs over 700 people and cares for over 1200 people with and without disabilities, has not only taken a drone photo with over a hundred people forming a "55", but has also published a video for Diversity Day on May 23, in which 55 faces of Lebenshilfe are also shown in keeping with the 55th anniversary. The video can be viewed on the homepage www.lebenshilfe-fs.de, on its own YouTube channel and on the website of the Diversity Charter, which Lebenshilfe Freising also signed this year. In this way, the organization is also committed to more diversity in the world of work.
