On Monday, Mohammed Haitham Tamimi, the three-year-old toddler who was seriously wounded by accidental IDF gunfire in Binyamin last weekend, was pronounced dead. The toddler's father was also seriously injured and is hospitalized in Ramallah.
An investigation of the incident revealed that the forces tried to fire at terrorists who opened fire at the community of Halamish, hitting Muhammad and his father Haitham. An MDA team called to the scene performed CPR on the toddler and he was evacuated by helicopter to Tel Hashomer Hospital, where he was pronounced dead today. The Red Crescent took the father to hospital in Ramallah.
An IDF spokesperson said: "The IDF regrets harming uninvolved civilians and acts to prevent incidents of this kind. The incident is being investigated in depth. At the end of the investigation and taking into account its findings, a decision will be made regarding the opening of an investigation."

At the end of May, a 9-year-old girl was lightly injured by stray gunfire in the settlement of Kochav Ya'akov in Binyamin. IDF forces arrived at the scene and began searching, and the Home Front Command instructed the residents to enter the building, lock the doors and close the windows.
MDA medics and paramedics provided medical treatment to the girl, who was injured in the shoulder, and evacuated her to Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem. According to a military source, it is unclear whether it was deliberate; According to the IDF Spokesperson, an infiltration into the community was ruled out, and that an initial examination indicates that errant fire was carried out in the area and not direct fire.
