Kerstin Ott took a break in the spring of this year, hiking through Portugal for weeks. But now the singer is full of energy again. Can the fans look forward to new songs soon? In an exclusive interview with Kevin Drewes from IPPEN. MEDIA, she told us more.
Büsum - For a long time it was musically quiet around Kerstin Ott (41). In the fall of 2022, fans were served a great best-of album, but there hasn't been any new music since the work "Nacht sind alle Katzen grau". The singer treated herself to a well-deserved break in order to step on the gas again with renewed strength. After a multi-day hike through Portugal, she performed last Friday (2 June) at the "Schlagerparty am Meer" in Büsum. IPPEN. MEDIA met Kerstin before the performance and learned: She is busy again.
Kerstin Ott collects ideas for new songs
On her hike through Portugal, from which she returned in April, Kerstin Ott deliberately did not collect any new song ideas. But now exactly that is changing, as she described in an interview with Kevin Drewes from IPPEN. MEDIA exclusively reveals: "But now I'm back in the studio in between" and adds: "I'm just starting to collect new ideas and impressions again."
The fans have even more reason to celebrate: Her previously known songs are also currently being worked on - the reason: Kerstin is going on a big arena tour again in autumn. So the musician still has a lot up her sleeve for her community.
"She always laughs": Kerstin Ott wrote mega-hit for sick girlfriend
In 2016, "Die immer lacht" became an absolute mega-hit, but Kerstin Ott recorded it in 2005, writing the song within five minutes at the kitchen table for a friend who was ill at the time. The song is about a woman who always shows herself laughing on the outside. The narrator takes her by the hand and teaches her to show her true feelings to others.
Preparations for Kerstin Ott's tour have started
On their upcoming tour, they will also travel to Austria and Switzerland for the first time in autumn. Everything is already being prepared for the series of events, says the singer: "We have a great band at the start. The songs get a new idea again and will be a bit more upbeat. We're in the process of working on all the stuff right now and I'm really looking forward to it."

There will also be a "support act," adds Kerstin Ott. Before that, however, there are still some open-air dates - such as "Die Schlagernacht des Jahres" next Saturday (June 10) in Berlin with Matthias Reim, Ramon Roselly and Kerstin Ott. Sources used: IPPEN. MEDIA interview with Kerstin Ott
