In January of this year, around the time of the announcement of the renewal of the hit Netflix series "Wednesday" starring Jenna Ortega for a second season, reports began circulating online that the male star alongside Ortega, 21-year-old Percy Haynes White (who plays Xavier Thorpe in the series) was accused by several women of a series of serious acts of sexual harassment and exploitation that he allegedly committed with his friends several years ago.

The reports were harsh and graphic, based on a tweet posted by a Twitter user named Milkievich, to which she attached the hashtag "CancelPercy", in which she pointed an accusing finger at the actor and his friends, alleging that they sexually harassed young girls (some of them minors) at parties and social events they attended.

In the long and loaded tweet, the user shared the problematic personality profile of the actor, who she claimed his behavior began at the age of 15, when he lived in Toronto, called him and his friends "manipulative sexual predators" and recounted a series of harassment that she claimed allegedly included nude photos, aggression, manifestations of racism and misogyny and indecent acts bordering on actual rape.

White and officials for the series chose not to comment at the time, and for many months the disturbing affair remained in the dark.

Now, months later, with the buzz surrounding the show's second season in full swing, White chose to officially address the issue for the first time in a story he shared with his 4.1 million followers on Tuesday, calling the information circulated about him a "false campaign of misinformation."

"Hi everyone. There's something I want to clarify," White began the story. "Earlier this year, someone I have never met started an online campaign of misinformation about me," he wrote, adding that the information disseminated caused great suffering to his family and friends, whose personal details were exposed online against their will and who even received death threats.

White went on to claim between the lines that the lines between the character he portrays in the series and his real-life personality have been blurred, writing: "Images of me as a minor were used and examples of my conduct as part of my character were portrayed as abhorrent. My friend Jane was misrepresented as a victim and all her attempts to set things straight were ignored. She authorized me to mention her name in this message," he wrote.

"The rumors are false," he clarified. "I can't accept being described as a predator or someone criminally irresponsible about people's safety. These are precisely the damaging baseless allegations that create mistrust towards victims," he continued, pointing the finger of blame.

"It's burdensome and stressful to know that this false information has caused people grief. I thank everyone who stood by me and helped me share the facts. The harassment of my family, friends and colleagues should please stop," he wrote, concluding: "Thank you for taking the time to read this."
