There are increasing reports in Russian and Ukrainian media of a large-scale Ukrainian offensive on the southern front in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, and according to some reports, Ukrainian forces have managed to seize several strips of territory in the area.
Russian military bloggers reported in the morning that the Ukrainian army carried out several airstrikes, with increased use of armored forces and firing artillery and Haymars missiles at Russian positions. According to Russian sources, most of the attacks were repulsed, but the Ukrainians managed to take control of a hilly area south of the town of Orkhiv, which dominates the Orehiv Tokamak road.

Russian occupation authorities in Zaporizhzhia Oblast issued evacuation orders for the town of Tokmak and several other nearby villages, apparently due to growing concern that Ukrainian forces would breach the defensive lines. According to reports from both sides, the Ukrainians are attacking the fortified Russian defenses during the night, using heavy bombardment and night vision equipment, which the Russian army lacks.
Drone images released by the Russian military showed that at least some armored vehicles of the Ukrainian army were destroyed in the fighting. Some of the photographs were later discovered to be fake. According to the photos, the Ukrainian army is using German-made Leopard 2 tanks, apparently for the first time during the war.
Alongside the pressure in the Zaporizhzhia sector, the Ukrainian army continues to attack deep into Russian-occupied territory. During the morning hours, damage was documented to a facility for storing ammunition and repairing Russian army vehicles in the city of Luhansk.
