During the activity in Ramallah, violent riots developed in a number of locations, during which suspects threw stones and Molotov cocktails and IEDs at the forces. The security forces responded with crowd control measures and live fire to the area of the riots, hits were identified.
Initial investigations indicate that a Palestinian photojournalist named Mamen Samrin, who was in the area of the violent and mass riots, was apparently hit by a rubber bullet. The circumstances of the case are under investigation by the IDF.
A surgeon at the hospital where Samrin is being treated gave an update on his condition and said, "The injury caused a fracture of the skull bone behind the ear, which led to a slight hemorrhage under the meninges. The first symptoms were a concussion and memory loss, but his condition is now stable."
"Concern about harm to press crews"
The Palestinian Committee for the Support of Journalists said in a statement: "It expresses concern over the continued targeting of press teams with live ammunition, rubber bullets, and tear gas in the course of their journalistic work. This is intended to prevent them from covering what is happening and exposing the occupation's crimes against the Palestinian people. Israel must be held accountable and investigated so that it does not escape punishment," the statement said.
The Palestinian Journalists Union condemned "the attacks and crimes committed by Israeli military forces against journalists" and said it would "continue its efforts to prosecute the criminal murderers in the international court."
