One of Economy Minister Nir Barkat's security guards attacked a protester against the legal revolution in Boston on Wednesday. He came to protest along with several other demonstrators during the minister's visit to the city, who came to meet with the heads of the Jewish communities in Boston.

Footage of the incident shows the demonstrator being violently beaten by one of the minister's security guards after he tried to document Barkat. The demonstrators report that one of them was wounded.

Subsequently, a response was issued by the minister's office, claiming that the incident took place against the background of an attempted attack on the minister, but the documentation clearly states that the protester was not close to Barkat at the time of the attack. "The security officer of the Israeli consulate in Boston filed a complaint with the police against the attacker who tried to physically harm the minister, and he was arrested by the Boston police," the minister's office said in a statement. "A number of demonstrators tried to physically reach Minister Barkat and push back the unit's security guards. Thanks to the minister's security guards, physical harm to the Israeli government was prevented," they added.

Minister Barkat himself responded to the incident, claiming that "political murder is a matter of time in the State of Israel. Under the cover of the protest, there are those who allowed the blood of elected officials. We are on a slippery and dangerous slope. I thank the security guards in the personal security unit who repelled the attacker and prevented me from being harmed."

"No one wants to touch you – just save our democracy from you."

"An hour ago, Brothers in Arms activists staying at the same hotel with Barkat met the minister, called him 'shame' and photographed him," Brothers in Arms said in a statement. "Apparently, Barkat was jealous of Rotman, who was 'attacked' in Tel Aviv by a sticker and in New York by shouting on a megaphone – and had to invent an attack of the same severity. You can see in the videos that violence wasn't there," they added. "Stop with the lies. This protest is the most nonviolent protest that has ever been here. No one wants to touch you – just save our democracy from you."
