2023-06-08T17:12:22.033Z

Highlights: Gabi Fastner from Bad Tölz is a well-known face from the cult show Tele-Gym on Bavarian television. Their new DVD is intended to strengthen the viewers' backs. "I have noticed time and again that many people are only motivated to exercise regularly when they already have back pain," says Fastner. In order to stabilize the back and strengthen the deep muscles, the sports trainer recommends doing targeted exercises for 15 minutes at at least three times a week.

Gabi Fastner also shows how to mobilize the spine. An example is diffraction/extension. To do this, you stand in a wide straddle as in the picture. Gabi Fastner from Bad Tölz is a well-known face from the cult show Tele-Gym on Bavarian television. Their new DVD is intended to strengthen the viewers' backs.

Bad Tölz – It's an institution on TV: For over 30 years, "Tele-Gym" has been offering 15 minutes of fitness for home use every morning on BR television. It is not uncommon for the gymnastics teacher Gabi Fastner from Tölz to instruct the exercises. Now there is a new DVD with a focus on a strong, healthy back. "I have noticed time and again that many people are only motivated to exercise regularly when they already have back pain," says Fastner.

Gabi Fastner advises: Think twice a day about your back

In order to stabilize the back and strengthen the deep muscles, the sports trainer recommends doing targeted exercises for 15 minutes at least three times a week. "Of course, daily would be ideal," she adds. "In general, you should also think about your back for two minutes every hour and incorporate a little exercise, such as stretching, circling your shoulders backwards or rolling your feet from the tips of your feet to your heels."

Mindful training for the back is important for everyone, not just for people with office jobs. "Many people who work physically are often only burdened on one side. That, too, is not good in the long run. Many movements are performed only with the right or only with the left. That's why it's important to create a balance with gymnastics," says the expert.

New Tel-Gym DVD: "My vital back"

The DVD "My vital back" shows eight back units of 15 minutes each. "Balanced back training includes exercises that move, activate, strengthen and relax fascia, muscles and joints, as well as train sensorimotor skills," says Fastner. Because: "Back training should not only include strengthening the back, but also offer relief and relaxation."

If you don't have a DVD player at home, you can also download the exercises online on Tele-Gym. But, says Fastner, "Since most of my viewers are more likely to be in the second half of their lives, the DVD medium is still well received."
