Schondorfer Kreis honours "successful" new building for the first time

2023-06-08T09:43:51.259Z

Highlights: The "Schondorf Circle for Culture and Landscape Conservation" has awarded a new building the "Successful" design prize. The award is a signal that the Schondorfer Kreis takes preservation and renewal equally important. This year, the prize went to the married couple Ursula and Dr. Thorsten Bosch, who succeeded in seamlessly fitting into the context of the grown environment with the new construction of their apartment building. The architect was Kurt Bergmaier from Schondorf, who worked closely with artist Andreas Kloker.

Schondorf – If you turn from the street "Am Eichet" into the "Sonnenleite", you will nod appreciatively at house no. 3: Someone has probably lovingly renovated an old villa property here. The fact that this is completely wrong has now been made public by the "Schondorf Circle for Culture and Landscape Conservation". This is because this is a completely new building that has been awarded the "Successful" design prize.

As Chairwoman Dorothee Mayer-Tasch emphasized at the presentation of the plaque, for the first time since the introduction of the award in 2017, the company had moved away from honoring the owners of historic and townscape-defining buildings for their restoration in accordance with the requirements of the monument. Such as the "Villa Schwarz" in Seestraße, the large farming estate of the Wagner family in Landsberger Straße, the Cornelius House in Moraschstraße, which was brought back to life by painter Jan Davidoff, or most recently even the renovated green changing rooms in the Forster lido from the heyday of the baths around 1930. The current award is a signal that the Schondorfer Kreis takes preservation and renewal equally important.

This year, the prize went to the married couple Ursula and Dr. Thorsten Bosch, who succeeded in seamlessly fitting into the context of the grown environment with the new construction of their apartment building. Cultural scientist Prof. Peter Cornelius Mayer-Tasch expressly praised the "Villenburg" with its distinctive turret for design, material and colouring, which has a historical effect due to the cleaning technique. The roof is covered with shingles made of lark wood and partially greened.

The openness to Sonnenleite-Straße and the fact that they did not want to hide behind a hedge were also praised. The house includes seven rented residential units between 49 and 99 square meters with balconies, an elevator and underground parking. The architect was Kurt Bergmaier from Schondorf, who worked closely with artist Andreas Kloker. Among other things, the metal specialist designed the balcony railings, the garbage can house and the letterbox system. It is a happy coincidence that he also designed and produced the plaque "Successful" of the Schondorf Circle.

In his acceptance speech under the motto "All's well that ends well", client Dr. Thorsten Bosch recalled the sometimes complicated planning and construction work, which even had to be interrupted for more than a year due to problems with the neighborhood and the district office. The award means a particularly successful happy ending.
