PLO flags at Israel's first university: The Jerusalem Student Front held a graduation event of the academic year this week entitled "I am from here and I am from there," during which Arab students waved PLO flags while singing, and some were even photographed with the PLO flag on stage. The event was held on Tuesday evening at the Truman Hall for Peace Research on the Hebrew University campus on Mount Scopus in Jerusalem.
Maor Zemach, chairman of Lech Yerushalayim, and Shai Rosengarten of Im Tirtzu said: "It is a shame and disgrace that the Hebrew University allows an event to be held on university grounds in which flags of the PLO terrorist organization are waved. How can coexistence be promoted when such an event is allowed? Instead of promoting coexistence, the Hebrew University promotes a separatist and nationalist narrative through these events. Shame."

The Hebrew University said: "This is an event of the Hadash student cell, which took place on the occasion of graduation. Since this is a cell that incorporates mainly Arabic-speaking students, most of the songs were in Arabic. The Hadash cell is one of 30 student cells active at the university and represents the entire political and social spectrum. These cells conduct independent activities throughout the year, they are not funded or supported by the university in any way, and their activities are protected by freedom of expression under the law."
Despite the university's announcement, last March the Hebrew University sent an official e-mail to the students, in which they spoke about the political and social situation in Israel, alongside a (partial) list of upcoming holidays and holidays. The students were shocked to discover that the university's list, which is funded by state funds, also includes Nakba Day. A month earlier, Prof. David Enoch, a full lecturer at the Faculty of Law and the Department of Philosophy at the Hebrew University, published an article in the American Jewish magazine Forward, calling for a boycott of the settlements and a boycott of the government.
