The Third Intifada in Judea and Samaria: It's Not a Tension, It's a War No One Counts | Israel Hayom

2023-06-08T10:03:17.707Z

Highlights: Lives of Israelis in Judea and Samaria have become Russian roulette, writes Oren Ben Hakon. The government of change, which is considered a mark of Cain by the right, gave it a security school, he says. The problem is that no one is willing to shake up the coalition about this right-wingness, writes Ben-Hakon. "The writing on the wall" is an understatement compared to what is currently happening in northern Samaria, he adds.

An entire family that will be slaughtered, or a one-year-old baby who will be shot in the head? • What is the human sacrifice that the super-right-wing government is waiting for in order to act • Even the government of change, which is considered a mark of Cain by the right, gave it a security school, which is also not enough, at least it did • A person who goes to work in the morning does not know if he will return home. But in light of the government's conduct today, he knows that all his life is worth is a feeble condemnation

If I could enter a discussion of the political-security cabinet, I would ask what human sacrifice they need in order to act. Yes, you heard that right, human sacrifice in 2023, because there's no other way to define it.

A special project in "Israel Hayom". The "almost dead" and the angry residents tell of the attempted attacks, from which they miraculously survived. "Sorry we weren't murdered": Judea and Samaria residents who miraculously survived attempted attacks - afraid and angry

In Israel today, they are waiting for a victim to act against the despicable terrorists. Is it an entire family that will be slaughtered? Will a one-year-old baby get shot in the head? Or maybe only when a terrorist manages to blow himself up in the middle of a restaurant and claim victims on the scale of the attack in Sbarro will we realize that we are in the midst of a third intifada and wake up. Enough for you?

They call you a full-fledged right-wing government. And really, in some ways you are definitely a right-wing government. Construction in Judea and Samaria? There is and is. Roads? Many. But most importantly, you are failing abjectly and resoundingly – that somehow, miraculously, claimed "only" the life of one Israeli in the past month. The lives of Israelis in Judea and Samaria have become Russian roulette. A person who leaves for work in the morning does not know if he will return home. But in light of the government's conduct today, he knows that all his life is worth is a feeble condemnation.

Words like sand

Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee Chairman Yuli Edelstein stood this week at the shiva of Meir Tamari, who was murdered in an attack near his home town of Hermesh in Samaria, and said he would demand that the checkpoints be reinstated. In the attack in Neve Yaakov, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir stood before the stunned residents and said, "The burden of proof is on us." But words are like sand, and actions on the ground are not.

The number of fighters in Judea and Samaria has dropped significantly in recent months compared to their presence during Operation Breakwater. The operations in Jenin and Nablus have almost completely disappeared. "We will return", "we will do", "lead", "we will promote" - and in practice zero, Gornisht.

The Israeli whose car was hit by 12 bullets near Huwwara needs to fill out the lottery urgently, because statistically he should have died. A bullet in the rear window, a bullet in the front door, a bullet in the windshield. The fact that he is standing and alive is a wonder or a miracle, whatever you want to call it. And he's not alone. The mother who traveled with her four children between Kfar Tapuach and the towers last week lived miraculously. Even the passengers on the bus that got bundles two months ago in the same place survived against all odds.

"The writing on the wall" is an understatement compared to what is currently happening in northern Samaria. Those who stand and shout at the gate are perceived as delusional because no one has the energy to think about it. When MK Zvi Sukkot, who passed a moment after the attack in the same place, speaks, they say, "He is again." When Yossi Dagan cries out in the name of Samaria that action must be taken, he is labeled as a person who wants publicity and nothing more. But you have to listen to them. They live there. The problem is that no one cares. No one is willing to shake up the coalition about this.

Knesset Channel

The government of change, which is considered a mark of Cain by the right, has made a full-fledged security school for the right-wing government. She didn't do enough either, but at least she did. Mansour Abbas in the government, Nitzan Horowitz and Mossi Raz in positions of power, and the IDF launched an operation in Jenin and Nablus. But a full-fledged right-wing government is waiting for human sacrifice. To the family that will be slaughtered, to the Israelis who will explode.

They talk about tensions in the north, about security challenges in the region, but with all due respect to the tension, the residents of Judea and Samaria are dying now. They're not in tension, they're not potential, they're at war. A war that no one counts.
