A burning van on the A95 near Schäftlarn has led to massive traffic disruptions on Corpus Christi. The highway was closed.
Hohenschäftlarn – On Corpus Christi at 11.07 a.m., the volunteer fire brigades of Neufahrn, Hohenschäftlarn, Ebenhausen and Starnberg were alerted to the A95 in the direction of Garmisch. Flames were coming out of a Polish pickup truck. The cause was probably a technical defect. The driver had been able to save himself unharmed.
Flaams encroach on trees and bushes
His vehicle and its cargo – from shoes to wooden crates – burned out. Because of the drought of the past few weeks, the flames also spread to trees and bushes on the embankment, reports the fire department.
Four forces under heavy respiratory protection extinguish with two C-pipes
Four forces under heavy breathing protection advanced and extinguished with two C-pipes. The fire brigade also pulled the load apart to catch every nest of embers.
Highway closed for almost an hour
The highway had to be closed for almost an hour, which led to massive obstructions. Neufahrn's commander Martin Seitner was in charge of the operation.
