Yvelines: In the countryside, electric vehicles available to RSA beneficiaries

2023-06-08T10:24:22.474Z

Highlights: The Yvelin departmental council has just launched Mobilit'Y. The service is designed to equip rural communes with electric cars and charging stations. Condé-sur-Vesgre, a village near Houdan, is the first commune concerned. Most of the 32,000 electric vehicles in circulation in the Yvelines are domiciled in the city, especially in the east of the department. The operation is intended to limit the growing gaps between the countryside and the city in the use of electric vehicles.

To try to erase the disparities in the use of electric vehicles between the city and the countryside, the Yvelin departmental council

The countryside is converting (slowly) to electric. The departmental council has just launched Mobilit'Y, a new service designed to equip the rural communes of Yvelines with electric cars and charging stations. Thirteen of them, mainly located in the Manta region*, will be equipped in the coming weeks. It is Condé-sur-Vesgre, a village near Houdan, which opened the ball by becoming, Wednesday evening, the first commune concerned.

The service will be reserved in priority for RSA beneficiaries. They will be able to borrow the electric vehicle free of charge for a professional appointment or training. Municipal agents and councillors, solely in the context of their professional activities, will also be able to use this equipment. Finally, one of the two charging stations will be accessible to the general public to make life easier for owners of clean cars.

A €1.6 million operation

At a cost of 1.6 million euros, the operation is intended to limit the growing gaps between the countryside and the city in the use of electric vehicles. Due to a lack of sufficient bollards and geographical constraints, rural areas continue to lag behind urban areas. Most of the 32,000 electric vehicles in circulation in the Yvelines are domiciled in the city, especially in the east of the department. The map of the 1,521 terminals available follows much the same trend and shows a concentration of catches in the region of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, Versailles and in the Seine Valley.

"We know that the lack of charging points is one of the obstacles to the use of electric vehicles," says Patrick Stefanini, departmental councillor (LR) of the canton of Bonnières. It is up to us, therefore, to make up for this lack. These rural areas are, for some, medical deserts. They should not become electric deserts. »

By the end of 2023, a progress report will be carried out in anticipation of a generalization of the device to 142 villages.
