Nothing less than a "question of justice". The Minister of Economy and Finance, Bruno Le Maire, did not mince his words by qualifying on BFMTV Friday morning as "very advantageous" the taxation that applies to Airbnb, before blaming "windfall effects too important". In support of this scathing observation, the minister announced that he was preparing a "reform of the taxation on Airbnb" and that proposals would soon be submitted to the Prime Minister and the President of the Republic.
The purpose of the tax maneuver is to encourage landlords to offer their housing as long-term rentals rather than seasonal rentals. A policy that is part of a context of lack of supply on the rental market, making it impossible for many people, some of whom are well equipped, to settle where they wish.
