The expansion of the Reichersbeurer local heating network is progressing. Now the topping-out ceremony for the new heating system has been celebrated.
Reichersbeuern – On Wednesday evening, craftsmen, local councillors and some citizens came together to celebrate the topping-out ceremony of the new heating centre next to the Reichersbeurer primary school on the site of the former teacher's residence on a small scale. "Others are talking about the energy transition – we are doing it," said Mayor Ernst Dieckmann in his speech.

80 to 90 households could be connected to the grid
Sebastian Henghuber, Chairman of MW Biomasse AG, explained the most important basic data of the project. For example, the central heating system next to the school houses a wood chip boiler with an output of 800 kW, which is fed into the local heating network. The number of connected households will increase rapidly. While there have been 31 so far, in the future it will "certainly be over 70," Sebastian Henghuber predicted, "more likely even 80 or 90."
400,000 tonnes of heating oil can be saved in this way
The Reichersbeurer local heating network currently extends from the school to the town centre and Tegernseer Straße. It replaces 400,000 litres of heating oil. 1000 tons of carbon dioxide per year are thus produced less. As reported, the network is to be further developed in the next few years in the direction of the south or station.

The project has a number of other advantages, Henghuber emphasized: "With such a local heating network, ten times more money remains in the region than if we send money for heating oil to Russia or elsewhere. And that's where questionable things are done with it." Henghuber continues: "Local heating is not only environmentally and climate-friendly, but also brings something for the region – that's the beauty of it."
Afterwards there will be a celebration at the Gasthaus Altwirt
MW Biomasse has been a project partner of the municipality of Reichersbeuern since 2019. They have given themselves three years to win new partners. This schedule will be adhered to exactly. The municipality will put the heating plant into operation in September, Dieckmann added. It is an "early highlight" in the expansion of the local heating network.
