The forty-year-old appeared since Wednesday before the Assize Court for the murder of Anne-Laure Castro, a 23-year-old escort-girl of which he was the last client, on October 23, 2019. The girl's body was discovered seven days later in the river under the Gallieni bridge, tied up in the fetal position with electric cables, wrapped in 47 meters of cling film and with a wound running from the throat to the neck.

Grey areas

The grey areas of the case did not allow the Court to convict the accused. If the interviews of the suspect and his girlfriend, painted the profile of a violent man, behind the apparent shyness described by his wealthy family from Africa and the United States in Lyon, only a bundle of clues was presented by the investigators but no really damning element.

The court therefore did not follow the attorney general who had requested a sentence of 25 years in prison out of the maximum 30 years that the suspect faced.
