Nearly a decade after the facts, up to nine years in prison were requested Friday, June 9 before the Assize Court in Nanterre against three women accused of kidnapping, beating and prostituting a 15-year-old girl, and seven years against three men accused of raping her. The verdict is expected in the night from Friday to Saturday.

Danaé K., Wendy H. and Christel W., aged 21, 22 and 43 at the time, are accused of having held the victim in an apartment in Meudon (Hauts-de-Seine) and of having forced her, under threat of beatings, to have sexual relations with men contacted for this purpose.

Kidnapping and pimping

On the run at the time of the facts, the victim had joined in the Paris region Danaé K. and Wendy H., "old friends" with whom she had quarreled in the past for "stories of boys". All three were hosted by Christel W. The three accused are on trial for kidnapping "with torture or barbaric acts", procuring and complicity in rape. Against Wendy H., presented as "the most violent", and Christel W., "keeper of shame", the attorney general asked for nine years in prison with a warrant of committal. Against Danaé K., described as "the right arm of humiliation", she asked for seven years in prison with a warrant of committal, retaining the alteration of discernment.

The Attorney General requested sentences of seven years in prison with a warrant of committal against Mahfoudh M., Mouloud B. and Raymond A., accused of raping the girl. All three of their counsel argued for acquittal. "Yes, (the victim) was raped by (Mouloud B.), he confessed it to us yesterday. Did at the time (Mouloud B.) penetrate her sexually under duress? No, "argued Me Stéphane Maugendre, explaining that his client "was not aware that a constraint was exercised" by the accused. Danaé K.'s lawyer, Me Frédéric Beaufils, asked the jurors to acquit his client on complicity in rape and to rule out acts of torture and barbarism.

"His dignity has been reduced to little"

In her closing argument, the attorney general portrayed "an innocent woman whose body and dignity were reduced to very little for three days" by three women who used her as an "existential romp". On Wednesday, the victim, now 24, had told the court beatings, insults, knife threats, forced sex, which she could not remember in detail. "It is a 15-year-old girl who was treated differently than a living being," said his lawyer, Me Clément Diakonoff, during his argument. Nearly ten years later, "which (Wendy H.) are you going to convict? The Wendy of ten years ago or the Wendy of today?" asked jurors his lawyer, Mourad Battikh, regretting the "scandalous" delay that elapsed between the facts and the trial.

The delay was "aberrant" in this case, had observed this Wednesday the president. "The institution has failed," she added. "Today, (Wendy H.) has found herself, she has a psychological follow-up twice a week, she is the mother of several children and a baby to come (...). You are obliged not to disintegrate her permanently, for her, for her children, "continued Mourad Battikh. Christel W., at the time "marginalized" and "isolated" has since "evolved a lot", said his lawyer, Me Quentin Dekimpe, stressing that his client was followed by a psychiatrist and a psychologist. The three defendants expressed "shame" and "regret" throughout the trial, apologizing to the victim on several occasions.
