On July 7, the Paris judicial court will decide whether or not to block access in France to five pornographic sites, including the leader Pornhub, visited each month by nearly 9 million visitors, including 1.3 million minors, according to Médiamétrie. These platforms have been prosecuted since December 2021 by Arcom (ex-CSA) for non-compliance with a 2020 law obliging pornographic sites to bar access to minors through tools to verify the age of the Internet user.
Yes, but which ones? This issue has been a thorn in the side of the government for three years, behind which many international platforms have taken refuge for not respecting French legislation. According to Arcom, half of French boys aged 12-13, and 21% of 10-11 year olds, visit pornographic sites every month and these figures are only increasing.
