For Borussia Mönchengladbach's new coach Gerardo Seoane, future success depends largely on the current transfer period. Before that, the 44-year-old Swiss does not want to comment on his goals. "For the current situation, that shouldn't be an issue," Seoane said on Friday at his presentation in Mönchengladbach on the question of whether Borussia could soon play for the international places again after a difficult two-and-a-half years.
Mönchengladbach - "The squad opportunities have an important influence on how we want to play," Seoane continued.
The successor to Daniel Farke, who is on leave of absence, has also stressed several times that he has been analysing the squad "intensively" with sporting director Roland Virkus since signing his contract this week: "What do we have? What do we need?" After the departure of key players such as captain Lars Stindl, attacker Marcus Thuram and defender Ramy Bensebaini, Borussia are facing a major personnel upheaval. Other top performers such as Manu Koné could still leave the club to generate financial resources for the upheaval.
Seoane has signed a three-year contract, like his predecessors Adi Hütter and Daniel Farke, who each had to leave after just one season. "We believe it's a good fit for Borussia Mönchengladbach," said Virkus on the choice of the next coach. Dpa
