Heavy steel plates pierced a semitrailer truck on Friday on the A8 near Sauerlach – the heavy load shot right into the driver's cab.
Sauerlach - The accident happened around 14.30 p.m. in the northbound direction. A Belarusian transported steel plates with a Lithuanian semi-trailer truck, together over 23 tons. About a kilometer before the junction Hofolding, he had to brake abruptly, according to the police, due to traffic.
Poorly secured load pierces bulkhead of trailer and tractor unit
As a result, the load, which was obviously inadequately secured, began to move so much that it pierced the bulkhead of the trailer and the tractor. Fortunately, the steel plates that shot all the way into the driver's cab missed the driver. The 31-year-old got away with the fright.
Seven kilometres of backwater
Amount of damage: at least 50,000 euros. The truck had to be recovered by a crane. Since the semitrailer is no longer roadworthy and has to be recovered by crane, the work on site at the accident site is still ongoing. Due to the salvage work and the aggravating holiday return traffic, there is currently a backlog of around seven kilometers.
