Highlights: The Complementary Annual Salary is divided into two payments: a half bonus in June and the other in December. Each half bonus corresponds to 50% of the highest monthly remuneration received by the worker within each of the semesters. The deadline to pay the first installment of the Christmas bonus is the last working day of June. The Christmas bonus must be paid to both employees who earn per month and those who work by the hour. The bonus of the domestic worker is due in 2023.

What is the deadline for them to receive the first half of the supplemental annual salary and how much they should be paid.

All workers in private homes, monthly or hourly, who are in a dependency relationship must receive in this month of June the first half of the complementary annual salary, known as aguinaldo.

On the part of employers, there are usually several doubts about what is the amount that corresponds to pay, how it is calculated and until what date it can be paid.

According to the provisions of Law 26,844, the deadline to paythe first installment of the Christmas bonus is the last working day of June.

Tax expert Sebastián Dominguez explained to Clarín that the payment date will depend on the worker's last working day. If the employee goes home only on Mondays, she should be paid on the last Monday in June, which is not necessarily the 30th."

On the other hand, he said that "there will be employers who decide to pay it a few days before the stipulated date and it is valid, what should not happen is that it is paid later."

How is the bonus of a domestic worker calculated?

An amount equivalent to half of the best gross monthly remuneration for the semester must be paid. That is, what was charged between January and June, inclusive, is taken into account.

If the employee did not work the full six months, a proportional payment must be paid: the days worked (straight) are taken and divided by the 180 days of the semester.

This could happen for workers who started after January 1, for those who ended the employment relationship before June 30, or in cases of maternity or unpaid leave.

The criterion of paying half of the best salary of the semester applies to all cases, both monthly and hourly employees.

tag. Monthly modality: the SAC is half of the month with the highest gross salary. In general it is the last salary increase, although there are special cases in which this is not the case. For example, if overtime was paid another month, if the last month you did not work or did not receive full salary, etc.

tag. Hourly modality: in the case of workers with daily pay, the month in which the highest amount was paid is also taken. The values will depend on the number of days and hours worked in the month and the amount per hour.

Meanwhile, as the mandatory contribution of private homes is a fixed amount per month, there is no proportional contribution for the Christmas bonus.
