At 22 p.m., actually a few minutes earlier, the women of the house were in front of the TV. The dishes washed, the table cleaned, the clothes ready for the next day. The ritual of the telenovela in prime time was that taste that the ladies gave themselves, when it was normal and well seen that domestic work was their absolute responsibility.
The conflicts, encounters and disagreements of the lovers were then discussed in the office, school or hairdresser. And you read about the actors in the showbiz magazines, but there was no pseudopsychological analysis of the characters' behavior; at most some stir over a "played" scene or a "strong" word.
Today, as in those times, the series that are delivered chapter by chapter "rise" punctual, in general on Sundays, also at 22. Through platforms, our menu is the same as that of a couple living in New York or that friend who went to study in London. And there is no way out or compromise that manages to tempt fans other than being nailed in front of the screen at the appointed time.
It does not matter that the on demand allows you to decide when is the best time to find out how it continues, much less how it ends. The tube TV and the antenna that was decalibrated on the terrace gave way to huge screens with stereo sound and 4K definition.
Screenwriting books, masters in creative writing, dialogue specialists appeared. But the passion for seeing a good story remains the same.
