The Olching Folk Festival is still in full swing. A kind of mid-term review shows that the wheat beer carousel, which is celebrating a comeback, is well received. For some, it's the perfect start to a successful party evening.
Olching – Right at the entrance to the folk festival, a special attraction catches the visitor's eye: the wheat beer carousel. For the brothers Quirin and Max Hamatschek from Gernlinden, it is the first stop. "The location of the wheat beer carousel is just great. The beer is good and the location is all the better for pre-annealing. Then you go to the beer tent and can continue partying there," says Quirin Hamatschek.
Volksfest Olching: The best in the west of Munich
Guido Amendt, head of the Olchinger Braumanufaktur (OBM), is pleased about the great popularity of the wheat beer carousel, which has been the subject of quite a stir in recent years. "For many, it's the beginning of the folk festival, some still come to us after the beer tent," he says. For him, the Olchinger Volksfest is the best in the west of Munich.
He has been here every year since he was two years old. Especially for the wheat beer carousel, OBM has brewed a Festweisse. The idea to bring such an offer back to the festival grounds after a long break came from landlord Michael Maier. After a bar at the location had served guests in recent years, he said that a carousel could also be well received again after all this time. Amendt is happy about this decision.
And he has celebrity support: Carnival Princess Amelie I of the Olching Carnival Guild serves wheat beer, Aperol & Co. here in a dirndl, smiling.

Olching Folk Festival: Young and old
Annika Müller is also in a good mood. She is a guest in the beer tent with numerous friends. The 19-year-old likes being here. "A lot of people don't understand the appeal of folk festivals. I really think it has a lot to do with tradition. When do you see so many people in traditional costume in one heap?" she says. For her, one thing is clear: "Folk festivals unite young and old people."

Her friends Celina Schär and Tim Lippert are also thrilled. For all three of them, hits such as "Scandal in the Restricted District", Angels or the Fliegerlied should not be missing for successful evenings in the beer tent. "These songs alone make up the folk festival," says Celina. Cult bands like Nachtstark, who also perform at the Oktoberfest, naturally do well in the program.
Volksfest Olching: That's what the mayor says
Mayor Andreas Magg also addressed a few words to the celebrants in the marquee: "We should enjoy everything. We haven't been able to celebrate together for so long, we should really appreciate that." For this reason, he wishes everyone a nice week of festivities and, above all, a lot of fun celebrating.
The Landsberieder Lukas and Michi Bals and Lukas Förg are at the Olchinger Volksfest for the first time. The three of them are enthusiastic about the wheat beer carousel. "You just have to try something new and the carousel immediately catches your eye at the entrance," says Michi Bals.
So with the wheat beer carousel there is a perfect place to get in the mood. Afterwards you can celebrate and party in the beer tent. This is still possible until Sunday. (Antonia Plamann)
