Hohenschäftlarn – The Almrösl Hohenschäftlarn Mountain Costume Association is organising the Gaufest from Thursday, 29 June, to Sunday, 2 July. "And because we were in the middle of organizing, we thought about how we could liven up the fairground on Drotwiesenweg on Saturday mornings," says chairman Franz Fischer. At the same time, the "kloane Dult" opens its doors. "Gilders, milliners, quill embroiderers and willow weavers show off their skills here – so it would be nice if numerous visitors could look over their shoulders."

Gaudi Olympics to inspire participants and spectators

Jutta Büttner, bank clerk at Raiffeisenbank Isar-Loisachtal, ultimately had the brilliant idea: "A fun Olympics, as we always organize at our summer festivals." But what tasks should the teams face? "It should be a mixture of strength and skill and be suitable for both women and men," says Marina Fischer (21), who has taken over the organization of the Games together with Quirin Huber (20). "Well, in short, something with brains and lard," interjects father Franz Fischer.

Registration until June 11

Teams can register until Sunday, June 11 (www.trachtenverein-schaeftlarn.de/gaudi-olympiade). So far, the boys, the fire brigade, the footballers and the "thirsty women from the upper village" have already expressed their interest. Although – should a message come a little later, the organizers would also turn a blind eye or two. "Ideally, a size of five people at a time, the minimum age is 18 years," explains Huber. After all, the 50 euro entry fee also includes five litres of beer – "and we don't want to seduce young people into alcohol, we see ourselves as responsible," emphasizes Franz Fischer. He himself will moderate the event. "Or maybe there are two of us who talk stupidly," he says and laughs.

Each discipline tested in self-experimentation

Of course, the organizers have tested each discipline in their own experiment and put a video about it on their homepage. "This way, everyone knows what's coming," Marina Fischer emphasizes. The prizes are also impressive: the winner goes home with a 50 litre keg of beer, the runner-up with 30 litres and the third with 15 litres.

Tapping on 29 June

The organizers have put together a lot for the four days of festivities. Beer tapping is Thursday, June 29, at 19 p.m. The band "El Prosit" is playing. The following day, the festival grounds open at 14 p.m. with a "kloanen Dult", carousel and boat swing for the little guests.

Gauheimatabend

A special surprise is planned for the seniors: "We invite everyone over the age of 70 to a village chat with a cup of coffee and a piece of cake," Fischer promises. For entertainment, the Schäftlarn youth band plays. At 19.30 p.m., the Gauheimatabend begins, where the Trachtenverein will introduce itself. "There is a lot of heart and soul in this evening," says Fischer's wife Monika. Elaborate dances and platters have been rehearsed especially for this purpose in the past weeks. After the official program, the Danzlmusi will play.

Cabaret evening

On Saturday, 1 July, in addition to the dult and entertainment in the marquee, the fun games will begin, and in the evening (admission 18 p.m., start 20 p.m.) cabaret artist Martina Schwarzmann will express her opinion on all topics of this world in the program "Ganz einfach".

Gaufest on 2 July

On Sunday, 2 July, the 93rd Gaufest will be opened with the Schäftlarner brass band and from 10 a.m. with a church service. A pageant follows. The Loisachgau stretches from Baierbrunn to Lengries with its 25 traditional costume associations. In addition to 18 brass bands, five drumming processions and four horse-drawn carriages, around 2300 traditional costumers are expected.
