"Die Ärzte" provide an idiosyncratic statement on the allegations against Rammstein. The cult band cracks jokes about knockout drops and bruises.

Munich/Esch-Alzette – What was going on at the "Ärzte" concert in Luxembourg? The cult band has put on a performance that shocked quite a few fans. The rockers made jokes about bruises and knockout drops.

"The Doctors" joke about Rammstein scandal: "We get so slapped in the mouth when we meet Lindemann"

"Dude, we're so when we meet Lindemann," bassist Rodrigo Gonzales says at one point. Before that, "The Doctors" made a number of jokes about non-consensual sexual intercourse. Obviously, they wanted to take aim at Rammstein and their lead singer Till Lindemann, the fierce accusations against him are currently occupying the music scene.

Jokes about knockout drops and bruises: "The doctors" reap criticism for dealing with Rammstein allegations

But "The Doctors" is quite wrong in tone, many observers think. The jokes are tasteless. For example, guitarist Farin Urlaub asks where you can actually buy knockout drops, Bela B. answers: "We make them ourselves, in the tour bus."

Then the two sing the song "Rock-Rendezvous", which is about Bela B. having sex with Farin on vacation while he sleeps. "I have worse things than bruises," they sing, among other things.

"Bela, you don't do that!" says Farin Urlaub afterwards. "I know that now, too," the drummer admits. "That's not cool! If you think it's good sex, buy a rubber doll," Farin Urlaub jokes. And shoots afterwards: "Good sex is when they fight back."

"The doctors" make a statement – the manner is met with incomprehension

"It was just fun, a bad joke," he admits. But Bela B. is already knocking out the next saying. He makes snoring noises and says, "I think that's considered yes, right?" "A quiet fart too," he replies.

"We'll summarize again," Farin Urlaub concludes after a while: "Sex only if both sides are totally in the mood for it." Sure, it's obvious that "The Doctors" meant all of this ironically. But are such jokes okay then?

"Hey, what's wrong with some men": "Doctors" fans disappointed by the cult band after Rammstein jokes

Many fans agree: No! "Evil," captioned a Twitter user who shared video footage of the performance. "They should show solidarity with the victims and not make jokes about it. Hey, what's wrong with some men. Either just jokes, downplay it or ignore it. I'm so tired," one woman commented. "Extremely unpleasant," says a YouTube user about the song "Rock-Rendezvous".

Under a YouTube video of the performance, almost a user put things together from his point of view. On the one hand, he defends "The Doctors", but still finds the humor worthy of criticism. "Of course, the band dealt with the Rammstein problem. At the previous three concerts, the band Rammstein was discussed a lot. If you understand the 'The Doctors' humor, the negative attitude towards it comes across clearly. Rammstein has already been tackled quite a bit," he explains.

"The doctors" ridicule Rammstein – "Jokes about knockout drops still problematic"

But: "Personally, I still find jokes about knockout drops problematic because, for example, those affected could be in the audience. But there were some trigger warnings beforehand and also very serious statements on stage on the subject." Only excerpts of the concerts are circulating on the Internet. In fact, "Die Ärzte" make it clear that they condemn knockout drops and abuse, but they still receive criticism for the sometimes insensitive jokes.

Meanwhile, the Rammstein singer is taking action against the allegations with a lawyer. (moe)
