Vittoria Cristina Chiara Adelaide Maria (catchy name) is just a 19-year-old fashion-loving model, online influencer and art history and political science student living in the UK. Although she leads an almost standard life for her age, she has revealed that she may become Queen of Italy.

So yes, her father is the Prince of Venice, Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy, but until two years ago the monarchy was not an option for her at all. When she was 17, her grandfather, Vittorio Emmanuel, Prince of Naples and son of Italy's last king, amended a medieval law to give his granddaughter the chance to one day become Queen of Italy. Now it turns out that the throne is closer than she thought, when her father the prince announced that he was retiring and giving his daughter the scepter.

Of course, all this inheritance is purely fictitious and a worthless title, because in 1946 a referendum was held in which the people of Italy decided to abolish the monarchy and declare Italy a republic, and according to the Italian constitution of 1947, male members of the royal family were forbidden to visit Italy - a prohibition that was abolished only in 2002.

Prince Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy - also known as the Prince of Venice - announced that he would resign and renounce his claim to the throne. The 50-year-old prince will pass the baton to his 19-year-old daughter, Princess Vittoria of Savoy, in the near future. "With great pleasure, I will retire and let her take on the role. What I'm sure is she'll do him better than I do," he told the Daily Telegraph on Wednesday. "It won't be tomorrow or a year from now, but when she's ready. It is important that the younger generation has the opportunity to put new and modern ideas into practice," added Filiberto.

He also noted that young people are "much more aware" of the world's problems. "It's important that she doesn't become heiress too late in life," he said of his eldest child, who probably won't have to hang in the air for decades until her father dies to claim the throne — yes, unlike King Charles III. Filiberto mentioned the King of the United Kingdom, adding that "it would have been helpful if he had become King 20 years earlier."

The House of Savoy ruled Italy from 1861 to 1946, when the country was still known as the Kingdom of Italy. The Italian Republic then took control of the country after World War II and the then king, Victor Emmanuel III, abdicated the throne to his son, Umberto II.

As for Vittoria, when she becomes head of the Savoy House, she will be in charge of the family's charities, which spent more than a million dollars on various projects last year. In Italy today there are movements advocating the restoration of the monarchy, and descendants of the Savoy family who have visited Italy in recent years have been welcomed by the public.
