In Lenggries, another asylum shelter is to be built after the containers on Geiersteinstraße. The corresponding building application will be dealt with at the next meeting of the building committee.
Lenggries – It is likely to be crowded next Monday, June 12, at the meeting of the Lenggries Building Committee (18 p.m., multi-purpose hall). On the agenda is a building application for the construction of an asylum shelter on Scharfreiterstraße. In the neighborhood, as one hears, resentment is stirring – also because one has not been officially informed by the municipality.
District office examines all vacant buildings and fallow land
Now, however, the municipality is in no way in charge of this project, confirms District Administrator Josef Niedermaier on request. "The municipality is not planning anything here." Rather, the district office is examining all vacant buildings and fallow land in search of further accommodation options. After all, the flow of refugees who have to be accommodated somewhere in the 21 municipalities does not stop. "And we are happy about every property owner who cooperates with us."
District office rents containers, Free State pays the rent
During this inspection, they also came across the property, which had been largely vacant for a good year and was formerly used by a motorcycle dealer who moved away at the beginning of 2022. The site is privately owned. "We approached the owner," says Niedermaier. "The initiative did not come from him. He was also very reserved at first." However, the talks with the government of Upper Bavaria were positive. The Free State must give the okay so that the state side of the district office is allowed to rent and operate the accommodation. Niedermaier then signs the lease agreement on behalf of the Free State. The latter takes over the rent payments.
Up to 100 refugees are to find shelter there
The plan is to preserve only the taller building on the site – there are offices on the upper floors – and to demolish the rest. This creates space to set up containers on the 3000 square meter site. "No shoeboxes, it should be more relaxed," emphasizes the owner. Sufficient open spaces should also be available.

Up to 100 refugees are to find shelter there. However, the aim is to achieve a more relaxed occupancy. The area will be fenced. As in other accommodations of this size, there will also be a round-the-clock security service on Scharfreiterstraße.
Owner seeks dialogue with immediate neighbors
Discussions with the immediate neighbors have been held by the owner. He understands that the project is causing concern among some people. This is probably mainly due to the number of beds. However, he points out that a security service is only used from a certain size.

Other properties in the district are also being examined
In the district, various checks are underway at locations for asylum accommodation – for example, on a meadow near the Benediktbeurer monastery, says Niedermaier. In Wolfratshausen there are talks, in Geretsried it is about the expansion of the filigree hall. The accommodation next to the Tölz district office is almost finished, 128 people are to be accommodated there. On the other hand, the location directly on the Tölz city limits, which was brought into play by Greiling – much to the annoyance of the city of Bad Tölz, is probably off the table. Various building and nature conservation restrictions in connection with the northern span speak against the airfield area.
