Influx for the big heating demonstration in Erding: According to information from the Münchner Merkur, Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) will also appear there as a speaker.

Munich/Erding – Markus Söder comes to the Gruber demo. A spokesman for the State Chancellery in Munich confirmed Söder's participation in the event in Erding on Saturday. A possibly five-digit number of participants from all over Germany and Austria is expected.

Monika Gruber: Demonstration against "Destruction of Prosperity"

Co-called for the demonstration against the climate policy of the traffic light has as the most prominent face the cabaret artist Monika Gruber. She wants to mobilize the "liberal-conservative center of society," she said recently in an interview with our editors. "What is now being demanded by Mr. Habeck and the traffic light coalition amounts in part to the destruction of prosperity, home ownership and livelihoods that are of no use to anyone," said Gruber, who herself lives in the Erding region. There is a "colorful list of speakers".

How colorful, this has been talked about behind the scenes for days. It is known that Deputy Prime Minister Hubert Aiwanger, the head of the Free Voters, is appearing – but also wants to talk to Bavaria's FDP leader Martin Hagen, a representative of the traffic light coalition, who, however, is struggling with details of the heating plans and demands changes. Internally, there were still debates among the organizers because of Hagen's contribution, but now it is clear: He is also allowed to take the microphone.

Söder comes at the invitation of Gruber: Demo defends itself against AfD appropriation

The participation of the CSU leader and prime minister is now new. From Söder's environment, it is said that he was personally invited by Gruber as a speaker. He will gladly accept this invitation. He shares the concerns of all people who feel increasingly abandoned by the traffic lights. The heating law is just another example of the aloofness of Berlin's politics. Instead of taking citizens along in times of crisis, the traffic light rules past the reality of life. Above all, the ideological stubbornness of the Greens overwhelms and unsettles people. The task of politics is to focus on the concerns of the normal population. Unfortunately, the traffic light has forgotten this.

Söder: It's about the middle and the normal

Söder also confirmed his participation on Twitter. He sees the event in Erding as "a clear signal from the middle" of Bavarian society in the direction of Berlin. Gruber had explicitly rejected the appropriation of the demo by the AfD. "On this day, the bourgeois center will talk – and definitely not someone from the AfD," she told our newspaper. A counter-demonstration by the Greens has been announced.

An increased police presence on Saturday morning at the Erdinger Volksfestplatz is to be expected in view of the supra-regional crowd of participants and the high level of media interest and dissemination via social networks for days; also with traffic obstructions in the city. "It is very important to me that we bring the demonstration peacefully to the stage," says Gruber. The 51-year-old cabaret artist also confirmed Söder's commitment. "I am pleased that the Prime Minister will speak," she told our editors, "because it shows that the politicians in Bavaria – unlike the gentlemen in Berlin – take the concerns and needs of their citizens seriously."
