A 15-year-old boy was killed and three people wounded by gunfire in broad daylight on Saturday in Stockholm, police said, adding that the circumstances were still to be clarified. An hour after the incident, two men were arrested after a chase in the south of the Swedish capital, according to police.
Informed of a shooting near a square in the south of the city just after 18:00 (16:00 GMT), police discovered two people with gunshot wounds at the scene. Two others were nearby, one of whom succumbed to his injuries. All three injured were hospitalized.

The other three people injured are a 15-year-old boy, and a man and a woman aged 45 and 65 respectively, police said. On Friday, three people were shot and wounded in separate incidents in the Stockholm area.
In recent years, Sweden has struggled to stem a wave of shootings and bombings, blamed on gangs settling scores amid drug trafficking. The country saw 391 shootings in 2022, including 62 fatalities, up from 45 the year before, according to police data.
