The Schliersee food bank provides food for around 400 people. But now she is reaching her limits: she is running out of food.

Schliersee – The Schliersee Neighbourhood Assistance Centre is sounding the alarm. At the food bank, the food is running out. In the past week, it has not been enough to provide for all those entitled. Karlheinz Seybold asks for donations for the good cause.

Around 130 families are cared for by the food bank in Schliersee, a total of about 400 people. Many of them are refugees – from Ukraine, Syria, Afghanistan and other countries, but also locals, including many seniors with a mini-pension. They come from the municipalities of Schliersee, Hausham, Fischbachau and Bayrischzell. Every Wednesday from 14 p.m. to 15 p.m., they can pick up food from the Alte Schule at Lautererstraße 8 in Schliersee, depending on the number of family members. About 25 people, elderly and disabled people, are supplied.

Seybold looks after the food bank in Schliersee on a voluntary basis as the main person responsible. He and his team arrive early in the morning every Wednesday, receive groceries, sort and get an overview of how much they can spend later. No one should go home empty-handed. But unfortunately, with so many people in need, food is becoming increasingly scarce.

"We generally don't have enough goods," says Seybold. Although some supermarkets, bakeries, butchers and other grocery stores support the food bank, which he is very happy about, because without this help it would look even more meager. "But we are happy about every donation, we can use everything," says Seybold. By everything, he means above all non-perishable foods such as pasta, rice, cans of vegetables and fruit as well as UHT milk. With them, the families already have a certain "foundation". Ready-made meals tend to be used less, the families cook themselves. Homemade jams as well as meat and sausage are not allowed to be handed out by the food bank, and the necessary facilities are missing for frozen products. Seybold has also shared his request for donations via social media. He hopes that it will be met with open hearts by as many people as possible.
