There are increasing chances that Public Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir will not extend the term of Police Commissioner Rabbi Kobi Shabtai by another year, according to senior police and national security ministry officials.

Those close to Ben-Gvir accuse: "The police commissioner has failed in his job, instead of concentrating on eradicating crime in general and Arab society in particular and on other challenges, he is busy promoting his friends in the police with whom he grills to positions for which they are not suitable."

21-year-old killed in brawl, 18-year-old murdered because of her sexual orientation

The death toll from violence in Arab society continues to climb. A 21-year-old man was killed early this morning in a fight near Ofakim. According to the initial suspicion, the deceased tried together with his accomplices to steal tools from an agricultural farm. In addition, last night an 18-year-old girl was murdered in the north because of her sexual orientation.

Following the death of the young man in the Negev, the Abraham Initiatives organization reports that the death toll in circumstances related to violence and crime in Arab society stands at 100, so far in 2023. In the same period last year, there were only 35 victims.

The five murdered in Yafia were laid to rest

The anger and pain in Arab society, including five murdered in yesterday's massacre in Yafia, brought thousands of citizens to the streets for demonstrations today (Friday) in Nazareth, Lod, Yafia, and the villages of the Galilee. Today, the High Follow-Up Committee for Israeli Arabs declared a general strike in Arab society. The funerals of the five murdered were held in Jaffa and Nazareth in the evening.

After 40 days: Children who disappeared in Colombian jungle found alive

The four children who have been missing since the plane they were flying in with their mother crashed were found alive last night. "I'm very happy," shared the children's grandfather. "They were together, they are very weak. We will wait to hear what the doctors will say about their medical condition."

According to reports in the country, military forces found the brothers suffering from signs of dehydration and insect bites, and evacuated them by helicopter to the hospital for medical treatment. The four, including a one-year-old baby, were rescued by the military about 3.5 kilometers from the crash site.
