Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, 81, suffered a bout of dizziness while speaking at a news conference Wednesday in Washington. The Republican had greeted those present but then fell silent and remained several seconds in pause before his team helped him to leave.
Senators John Barrasso and Joni Erns helped their colleague off the podium. Minutes later, the politician reappeared and continued with the question and answer session, where he was questioned several times about his health.
In March, the Republican suffered a fall that led to him being hospitalized for more than a week with a concussion. For now, McConnell, who began his Senate career in 1984 after being elected to represent Kentucky, has given no indication of choosing a possible replacement for his post.
