Roads cut, intervention of firefighters... Calvados and the English Channel had been placed on yellow rain-flood alert by Météo France Thursday. Rightly. Flooding was reported in several communes of these departments, leading to the intervention of emergency services.
In a message on social networks shortly before 21 p.m., the prefect of Calvados reported the closure of the RN13 between Isigny-sur-Mer (Calvados) and Carentan (Manche), after stormy showers. The floods led to the evacuation of motorists on this axis and a regrouping point was installed in the village hall of Isigny-sur-Mer. At least sixteen rescue operations took place in this commune.

The prefecture also indicates the intervention of "more than thirty firefighters engaged for exhaustion or drying operations", and recommends "residents to limit their movements and to request the emergency services only for urgent reasons. "
According to information from Ouest-France, there would have been no accident, only cases of aquaplaning.

62 interventions by firefighters in the English Channel
On the Channel side, the city of Saint-Lô was particularly affected by the floods. The municipality also announced at the end of the afternoon the cancellation of events scheduled for the evening "due to adverse weather conditions".
Firefighters had to intervene 62 times in several cities of the department, in Carentan, Torigni-sur-Vire, Saint-Jean-de-Daye and Saint-Lô reports Actu.

Two people had to be brought to safety in the latter city, but no injuries were reported on Thursday evening. The yellow rain-flood vigilance runs until midnight night.
