Last generation announces protests in Bavaria
On Wednesday, August 10, the activists held a press conference on Herreninsel in Chiemsee. On the same day, celebrations for the 75th anniversary of the Constitutional Convention were also held there. Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder had also announced their attendance at the meeting.
Anja Windl, who became known in Graz as Climate Shakira, accused the political leadership of burying the very basic rights of the population that are actually celebrated today. "The government is fueling the climate catastrophe and thus burying the fundamental rights that were written down here exactly 75 years ago," the criticism reads. Due to heating as well as droughts, crop failures and flood disasters, the right to life can no longer be guaranteed, warns the Last Generation in the press release.

Last generation announces protests throughout Bavaria – details clear
The politicians would present themselves as loyal to the constitution at the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the Constitutional Convention. "At the same time, these politicians are endangering the fundamental rights of all of us by leaving the population at the mercy of the climate catastrophe. How could you deceive the population more outrageously?" said Windl in her statement.

The upcoming protests would focus primarily on Bavaria. In cities throughout the state, there are said to be repeated peaceful civil resistance. "We start on Monday in Würzburg," Ernst Hörmann explained the details of the protest, which is to begin at 16 p.m. on the Main Bridge. The 73-year-old is the grandfather of eight grandchildren and has been involved with the Last Generation since the first sit-in blockade a year and a half ago. "From there we move south. We will carry our protest to the stronghold of the political blockade. Up to the policy of absolute delay." (came)
