The Last Generation blocked several roads in the Nuremberg and Fürth area. The police intervened against the activists.
Update, 16:45 p.m.: In Fürth, more activists of the Last Generation have taken to the streets and blocked traffic. According to News5, this was the city's main thoroughfare, the Pillenstein Crossing. There are numerous police officers on site. In addition, another group would have gathered directly at the Nuremberg/Fürth exit of the Frankenschnellweg and also sat down on the road. However, the police have already taken the activists off the road.
Update, 13:25 p.m.: After the Last Generation had already blocked some streets in Fürth and Nuremberg in the morning, the protests continued at noon. According to a press release from the activist group, they are also said to have blocked the streets in front of Nuremberg's main train station. The police intervened from the beginning, but could not prevent a blockade. The protesters had once been pulled off the street, but immediately re-entered the street "slowly and decisively".
According to the police headquarters of Middle Franconia, there were several people who had sat down, but not glued. The action has now been ended by the police.
Climate protests of the last generation: Activists sat down on the street in Fürth
Initial report:
Fürth - In Fürth, climate activists of the Last Generation blocked two streets at around 17 a.m. on Thursday morning (August 7). According to a police spokesman, several activists sat down on the street, holding up traffic. There had been disruptions in the morning rush hour. The police were able to dissolve the blockades after a short time.
Since 2022, the Last Generation has regularly drawn attention to the consequences of climate change with sit-ins on streets, but also with other controversial actions. Most recently, 43 activists were arrested in Würzburg after they blocked the B19 unannounced. The group had announced that this week there will be more actions in several cities in Bavaria - on Thursday, for example, in Nuremberg.

Last generation blocks streets in Fürth: Further protests announced in Nuremberg
Since July, a general decree has prohibited unannounced actions such as sticking climate activists on the streets. According to the city, anyone who opposes the general decree must expect fines of up to 3000 euros. The climate activists write in a statement: "The general decree previously issued by the city of Nuremberg, which threatens the protesters with high penalties, has remained ineffective. If anything, it has made the people involved even more determined. Instead of unreported demonstrations, as in Würzburg, they are now protesting in Nuremberg with sit-ins. Except for the people who make up the emergency lane, all of them have their hands fixed to the road with superglue."
Climate protests as well as meetings and demonstrations that have been notified in good time are not affected by the order, according to the information. (ly/dpa)
