The Last Generation has struck again in Munich – but this time not with a road blockade. Activists have thrown tennis balls dipped in white paint at the Bavarian state parliament.

Munich - They refer to the devastating hailstorm of the last few days: On Wednesday, August 30, activists of the Last Generation threw tennis balls dipped in white paint against the doors of the Bavarian state parliament. In doing so, they want to denounce the Bavarian state government, whose climate policy is not sufficient to prevent such disasters as in the severely affected Bad Bayersoien in the future.

At the request of IPPEN. MEDIA on Wednesday afternoon, the Munich police headquarters confirmed the protest. This happened around 14:30 p.m. According to a police spokesman, about ten people were involved in the action, who were still at the police station. Whether criminal offences have been committed has yet to be clarified.

In the photos of the last generation, it is clear to see how the tennis balls soaked in paint left white prints at the entrance to the state parliament. "It could be that it is property damage," the spokesman said by telephone. However, this is not the case if the paint can be easily removed from the walls again. It is also still uncertain whether it was an assembly and whether the right of assembly was violated.

Letzte Generation announces further road blockades in Munich

The Last Generation, on the other hand, justifies its action in a press release. "While the climate catastrophe strikes in Bavaria and tennis ball-sized hailstones destroy 80 percent of a city, Söder promises help for the injured in the election campaign frenzy, but he does not waste a syllable about his climate-killer policies," an activist is quoted as saying.

On Tuesday, August 29, the Munich police arrested a total of nine people for sticking themselves to the streets of the state capital, blocking traffic. They are in long-term custody until 12 September. The Last Generation criticizes the Bavarian state government for this approach. In her view, the Free State is heading towards becoming "the German champion in climate failure". It is therefore announcing further traffic blockades in Munich beyond September 13 – regardless of whether it is threatened with further preventive detention measures or not.
