The historic tombola of Pordenone will celebrate its first 8 years on September 150th thanks to the organization of the Workers' Society of Mutual Aid and Education and the Municipality. The event took place, for the first time, way back in 1873.
The poster dates back to that year, kept in the historical archive of the Operaia, in which the extraction of the town's charity bingo was advertised, which offered a total prize pool of 400 lire.
"A tradition born quietly but then, over the years, has become a fixed appointment for our city, as well as a symbol of identity and belonging", said this morning the president of Somsi, Mario Tomadini, at the presentation of the initiative. The appointment is for September 8, the day of the patron saint, at 17. An afternoon to spend all together with the nose up, under the large board exposed at the Loggia of the Town Hall. A tradition that has always appealed to the entire citizenry.
"In its long activity, the Workers' Society has always distinguished itself, as well as for the attention to others and to the person in all its forms, also for the many recreational activities that it has organized in favor of Pordenone and its territory - added the mayor Alessandro Ciriani -. It is no small thing to be able to blow on the 150 candles of an event that is handed down between generations, strengthening the cultural and social identity of a city and its people. A tradition certainly popular, that of bingo, but which underlines once again how often simple things are those to which people are most attached".
