The International Motor Show (IAA) in Munich is in full swing. But the protests of the Last Generation are virtually non-existent. Are the climate stickers giving up now?
Munich - The car manufacturers have apparently prevailed over the activists of the last generation in Munich. At least that's what a look around the IAA - the International Motor Show - shows. Because people who are stuck on the street can hardly be seen in the last few days. No climate glue far and wide.
IAA in Munich: After the announcement of protests - What are the reasons for climate glue lull?
Why the climate adhesives are currently not to be seen in action, the Munich police could not answer on request. According to the Bild newspaper, the new general decree of the city of Munich, according to which police officers may take faster action in the event of unannounced protests, activists may be taken into custody more quickly, is also decisive.

The large police contingent is likely to be just as deterrent. A total of 4500 police officers from all over Germany are on duty around the IAA. However, the press spokesman for the Munich police headquarters, Christian Drexler, expressly emphasizes that this deployment of emergency services does not apply to climate glue alone. "This generally applies to the overall use of the IAA," says Drexler, and is not due to concern for the climate activists of the last generation. For such a major event, one always plans with protests. This is quite normal, says Drexler.
Escalation of the previous protests? The conclusion of the police after two days of IAA
"There have already been various unregistered protests and events," says Drexler. Not only from the Last Generation, but also from other organizations. "There was also a vigil yesterday." But all these incidents were calm. The generally expected escalation of the protests around the IAA has so far failed to materialize.
However, the activists themselves would probably see it differently: At the beginning of the IAA, the Last Generation certainly showed presence, but was massively attacked by some road users. In a video, an angry motorist can be seen slapping an activist. A reaction that should not go unpunished. The police have already launched an investigation into this case.
Last generation: New road blockades around IAA announced
Have outbreaks of violence like these caused the activists to withdraw their protests? A request from IPPEN. MEDIA on this topic has so far remained unanswered by the Last Generation. However, the climate stickers do not seem to want to give up: The activists have announced further road blockades for the next few days.
