Berlin - Several men were injured in knife attacks and brawls in Berlin at the weekend. A 20-year-old turned himself in to the police after an attack at the Schöneberg S-Bahn station and was arrested. The alleged perpetrator stated that he had inflicted several stab wounds on a 22-year-old on Saturday night, police said on Sunday. Due to a laceration to the head, the origin of which has yet to be clarified, the 20-year-old first came to a hospital for outpatient treatment. He was to be brought before the magistrate on Sunday.

According to previous findings, the two young men got into a dispute on Saturday night in a sports bar on Dominicusstraße. After they had left the restaurant, the 20-year-old is said to have injured his opponent with a knife. The victim was found by the police at the Schöneberg S-Bahn station and underwent emergency surgery. According to the police, there is no danger to life.

Also on Saturday night, there was a violent dispute between a 46-year-old and two strangers in Spandau. The man is said to have been hit by an opponent with his fist against the head, so that he fell to the ground. When he tried to straighten up again, the man noticed a bleeding stab wound in his stomach, police said.

Meanwhile, a 30-year-old was beaten several times in the face and seriously injured by an unknown person in the Haselhorst district after a visit to the Oktoberfest at the citadel. The man lost consciousness and was taken to a clinic with cerebral hemorrhage, police said. He had been operated on during the night.

Two other men were taken to hospital after an attack in an apartment building in Berlin-Hellersdorf. According to police, a 22-year-old jumped from the balcony of the second-floor apartment on Saturday out of fear because a group of men stormed into an apartment and he was allegedly attacked with a baseball bat. A 36-year-old man also fled from the attackers and had a gunshot wound to the shoulder, it said on Sunday.

The background to the crime is still completely unclear, said a police spokesman. According to initial findings, up to five men are said to have stormed into the apartment on Saturday around 17:30 p.m. After the police were informed, emergency services searched the area around the apartment building and came across two men aged 29 and 43. They were arrested on suspicion of belonging to the group of attackers. Dpa
