The last generation is starting a new season. Under the motto "Turning Point Autumn", the climate protection group is calling for protests for an indefinite period of time.
Update from September 15, 19:22 p.m.: In the past 48 hours, the climate movement has collected more than 300,000 euros in donations. According to their own statements, they want to use the money to prepare the "turning point" and finance the planned, indefinite protest in Berlin. "Hundreds of people have been protesting permanently in Berlin since September 13 to initiate a turning point," the group's website said. A long-time supporter of the Last Generation would also have doubled the donations to 600,000 euros.

The climate movement is planning numerous protests in the capital. So far, more than 624 people have registered for the Berlin blockade on the website (as of September 15, 17:15 p.m.).
Last generation blocks Fridays for Future climate strike in Vienna
Update from September 15, 15:33 p.m.: Not only in Germany, but also in other countries, the climate protection movement Fridays for Future called for a climate strike. In Vienna, they are obviously accompanied by activists of the Last Generation. Pictures and videos on social media are supposed to show how members of the group are using a sit-in blockade to block not only car traffic, but apparently also the Fridays for Future demonstration train.
Anja Windl, who has become known as the "Climate Shakira", will also be there. Previously, she had announced on Instagram that she would go to the Fridays for Future demo in Vienna. A short time later, footage of the activists of the Communiqué collective shows police officers carrying away Windl. The climate strike of Fridays for Future had to circumvent the blockade.
A sit-in blockade of members of the Last Generation and Fridays for Future had also formed in front of the parliament, according to a statement from the Last Generation Austria. However, this soon seemed to be dispersed by the police. Images on social media showed officials encircling the participants.

Meanwhile, the protest continues in other cities as well. According to police, about 7000,12 people demonstrated in Munich at a Fridays for Future event. Similar demonstrations were also planned in the afternoon in several other Bavarian cities, including Nuremberg and Würzburg. In Berlin, the police spoke of about 500,<> people in the afternoon. Last generation starts "indefinite" climate strike in Berlin – alongside Fridays For Future

After the opening rally, the demonstration march will continue through the government district.
In view of this, motorists must expect traffic disruptions. According to Berlin's traffic information center, Straße des 17. Juni and Ebertstraße in Tiergarten have been closed to car traffic since 10 a.m. In the districts of Mitte and Charlottenburg, there were also several feeder demonstrations to the Brandenburg Gate. Fridays for Future again criticizes sticking actions of the last generation
Update from September 15, 12:18 p.m.: Once again, the Last Generation is receiving criticism from the climate protection movement Fridays for Future. "We have seen in the past two years that road blockades do not enjoy much social support," spokesman Pit Terjung told the Tagesspiegel. Instead of sticking campaigns, visible majorities are needed "so that we can generate political pressure, and that's what Fridays For Future has been doing for five years," Terjung said. "We don't need the more radical form of protest, we need radical effectiveness." Just a few months ago, Fridays for Future criticized the civil disobedience of the climate movement.
Fridays for Future has called for worldwide demonstrations on Friday. A large demonstration moves through Berlin's government district from noon. About 10,000 participants are registered with the police. The Last Generation had also called for participation in the Fridays for Future protest actions. The climate protection movement also wants to take to the streets in the capital, but according to its own statements "permanently". More than 621 people have now registered for the Berlin blockade (as of 15:11 a.m. on September 50).
Fridays for Future and Letzte Generation in Berlin: Numerous actions planned in Germany

It is now the 13th global "School Strike for the Climate". A particularly large number of demonstrators are expected in major cities such as Hamburg and Berlin.
The first actions have already started, but the demonstration in Berlin will start at 12 noon at the Brandenburg Gate. The protest actions are primarily aimed at the federal government, which is admonished by the participants to comply with their own climate protection goals. "Huge again today – and also afterwards," wrote the movement at X (formerly Twitter).
Demonstrations are also taking place outside Germany. The demonstrations are planned from Friday to Sunday, which is also aimed at the climate summit on September 20 in New York. Since 13 September, the climate group Letzte Generation has also been causing protests in the capital.
Last generation launches "permanent" actions in Berlin
First reported on 15 September: Berlin – In recent weeks, the Last Generation was still on summer break. The protests have previously cost too much strength, as a spokeswoman for the climate protection group had reported. Now the activists seem to have gained new strength – since Wednesday, the Last Generation has been calling for nationwide actions again, starting a new protest season. "Turning Point Autumn 2023" is the motto under which the group seems to be planning long-term projects that will focus in particular on Berlin.
"Hundreds of people" of the last generation protest in Berlin
The climate protection group's website states: "Hundreds of people have been protesting permanently in Berlin since September 13." On Thursday evening, according to the Last Generation, more than 616 people (as of September 14, 21:50 p.m.) had already registered to take part in the protests.
The Last Generation, which shares a message with the environmental organization WWF, kicked things off on Wednesday in Berlin. The Berlin police spoke of around 200 participants. Later, during the demonstration march at the main train station in the area of Europaplatz, the first road blockades were carried out by active members. Because they did not follow the instructions of the police, the event was declared over after three requests from the officers.
"Protest will only end when a turnaround is initiated": Last generation plans numerous protests
The protest is to continue on Friday. The activists then want to support a demonstration by Fridays for Future. At a press conference last Friday, spokeswoman Carla Hinrichs emphasized: "Our protest will end when the turnaround is initiated." In Aschaffenburg, too, the Last Generation is planning a protest march on Friday.
For Saturday, the group announced a protest march from the Naturkundemuseum subway station in Berlin-Mitte. From Monday, numerous protest marches and actions are to follow. Activists have also already blocked a road in Munich's traffic, which the Last Generation wants to paralyze in the coming weeks. On X, the group writes that these are people who had only been released from custody the day earlier because of their protest.

In an open letter to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the group explained why they are calling for the protests. It states: "We are not calling for the phase-out of fossil fuels by 2030. We approach you with this physical necessity and demand honesty. We demand respect." The group is taking to the streets to initiate a turnaround: "We are ready to protest indefinitely in the capital."
