As every year, the cleaver is about to fall for the French who have not paid all their income taxes. As of Monday, September 25, tax households with a balance to pay as part of their 2022 declaration will be deducted by the administration. The persons concerned, who were notified on their tax notice this summer, will therefore see one or more levies appear, depending on their situation.
In detail, the rest to be paid will be deducted in full at once, on September 25, if it is less than or equal to 300 euros. If the sum exceeds this amount, a quarter will be paid next Monday, then the other payments will take place on October 26, November 27 and December 27, says the tax administration. The levy will be identified "by its origin ("DIRECTORATE GENERAL OF PUBLIC FINANCES") and by its wording ("BALANCE TAX INCOME 2022 N OF INVOICE XXX")".
The bank account concerned is, in all cases, the one declared to the authorities. In the event of a change, the tax authorities must be notified as soon as possible. Last year, 10.7 million households owed out-of-pocket expenses, totalling €22.5 billion. Households entitled to a tax refund have already received their money, which was to be sent "either on July 24 or August 2".
