The president of Peru, Dina Boluarte, was rebuked by two protesters on Wednesday when she participated in an event of the CFA Society of New York. The meeting brought together leading Wall Street financiers and international representatives.
Boluarte is in the United States as part of the 78th United Nations General Assembly. The president has also met with her Ecuadorian counterpart, Guillermo Lasso; the president of Paraguay, Santiago Peña; and the executive secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs.
In July, the President apologized to the families of victims who died during protests against her government. In the same speech, he asked Congress for legislative powers to implement its security policy in the context of repeated social mobilizations against him.
