Hurricane Nigel is currently pushing across the Atlantic. In doing so, it also passes Western Europe – and pushes warm air to Bavaria, among other places.
Munich – There is no end to summer in Bavaria. Although there are storms from time to time – at the end of August, for example, Swabia was hit very hard – the temperatures regularly climb up again afterwards. September in particular has it all: it is the warmest September since weather records began in 1881 and it does not seem to be cooling down.
Hurricane Nigel "forces a massive advance of warm air" – Bavaria in the middle of it
In the current weather video of the wetternet channel on YouTube, meteorologist Dominik Jung explains how Hurricane Nigel, which is currently roaring across the Atlantic, affects Europe, Germany - and thus also Bavaria. First of all, the hurricane is on an "unusual trajectory", during which it also passes Western Europe.
Only immediately before the continent does it turn into an "extratropical low". In doing so, it is "forcing a massive advance of warm air on its front as far as Germany", and a high is also building up from Sunday, September 24 – possibly even a "stable Indian summer high", according to Jung. However, this is not yet entirely clear.
What does this mean for Bavaria? The weather map, which Jung shows in the wetternet video, makes it clear that there is a veritable band of heat over the Free State. It seems to be causing high temperatures across the board – even though the meteorological autumn has long since begun. After all, the summer will last until Saturday, September 23. And this interpretation of the seasons seems to want to underline the weather at the moment.

Concrete forecast: What will the weather be like in the next few days?
Afterwards, weather expert Dominik Jung turns to the forecasts for the next few days. According to this, people in Bavaria can expect widespread sunshine as early as Wednesday, September 20 – 24 degrees around Munich, 26 degrees in the north around Nuremberg. On Thursday, 21 September, it will be even warmer: between 26 degrees (south) and 28 degrees (north) are possible.

On Friday, 22 September, there will be a slump in the weather, which will be particularly strong in the south - and thus spoil the mood of some Oktoberfest visitors. Rain and 13 degrees Jung announces here. In the north, after all, "only" mixed at around 19 degrees. It won't be much better on Saturday – only 11 degrees in Munich with persistent showers and 16 degrees in the north.

But: From Sunday it will be uphill again. Temperatures are approaching 20 degrees again throughout the Free State and the sun is shining with light clouds. In the course of the coming week, it will even be far more than 20 degrees again. Conclusion: The summer just doesn't want to end and gives the people in Bavaria the best weather just in time for the Oktoberfest. (FHZ)
