Have you ever been on a cruise? Did you have certain expectations in advance? One woman seems to have been bitterly disappointed in her expectation.
This is perhaps how one could explain the angry entry of a woman in a Facebook group. In it, she describes in great detail her failed cruise with Costa Cruises. In the comments, however, there are just as many dissenting voices from Costa fans.
Cruise: Woman complains about "unprofessional and largely unfriendly service"
"I think it's a shame that you can expect an onslaught of indignation from a critical post. Everyone reports on their experiences and feelings," the woman begins her entry in the Facebook group of Costa Cruises fans.
"I was with the family on 30/06 for a week on the Firenze (ship of the fleet of Costa Cruises, editor's note). The first and definitely the last time," it continues. After all, she herself is a trained tourism clerk. So she knows a lot about cruises through her own job. Her conclusion after the trip: "I will not convey this shipping company to my customers under any circumstances, as I could not feel any holiday atmosphere at any minute on the ship." Harsh verdict. But what are the reasons for this?

These also follow immediately. The woman continues: "The Costa is for holidaymakers who have little ambition and want to take a (cheap) cruise. However, it is still too expensive for this unprofessional and largely unfriendly service. And don't go crazy about the dress code.... There is no one!" At dinner in the buffet, some of the guests sit at the table in bathing suits. Basically, it is "ridiculous" to call it a restaurant at all.
"The food in the main restaurant is only good for people who are not very familiar with real restaurant food," writes the obviously enraged passenger. "Before serving, it is much more like hospital food due to the warming technology (which absolutely does not work as well as in the hospital) and then when serving it is just convenience food." She could not get a positive evaluation of the trip and would not recommend anyone to take a trip with the cruise line, according to her – of course very subjective – conclusion.

So much negative feedback – but Costa Cruises has only recently started a new promotion. In it, a new all-inclusive offer is advertised with drinks, full board and more, as the portal fvw reports. The campaign includes departures from October 2023 to August 2024.

And even in the comments under the angry post, there are voices that can't understand the excitement about the Costa cruise. For example, it says: "We have sailed with MSC many times and are now doing our first tour with the Costa Firenze. We have only had positive experiences. Great excursions. Delicious food. Met nice people where we still have contact today or have already taken a second cruise. We always book a balcony cabin, where you can also retreat from time to time. So we can say that we have always liked it so far."
Another Facebook user wrote: "I've been on ships of the Costa Fleet and can only report the best in terms of staff, restaurants, food, organization, etc. I'll be on my next trip shortly – for me it's going to stay with Costa, and the expert certainly has advantages, I don't think it's ok if she reports so negatively."
Positive feedback runs through many of the comments, for example: "We were on the road with Costa Deliziosa in June and there was nothing to complain about. Food was always good, everything clean and peace we enjoyed on our balcony. I would ride with Costa again." Tastes are simply different.
