Schliersee – Deacon Norbert von der Krone has passed away at the age of 74. During his retirement, the deacon worked in the parish of Schliersee and had many stations in the district in the course of his career. He had a particular instinct for the concerns of the elderly.
from the crown was "a win" for the elderly
Norbert von der Krone worked as a deacon for 38 years. In the 1990s, five years after his ordination as a deacon, the native of Dortmund came to the district of Miesbach for the first time. Until 1997 he worked in the parish of Miesbach, later in Weyarn, Schliersee and Fischbachau, says Pastor Hans Sinseder.
However, von der Krone had his longest stay in the parish of Bad Aibling. For nine years he worked there in the pastoral care of the elderly. "He was very popular," recalls Karin Göbel, who had worked with von der Krone as a hospital chaplain in Bad Aibling. Due to his calm and listening manner, he was an asset to the elderly. "Because of his beard and grey hair, older people often said, 'He's one of us,'" Göbel says.
Last place of work: Schliersee
Deacon of the Crown was a consistent man. He often spent his holidays in South Tyrol – always in the same hotel, says Göbel. His dry sense of humor and his love of cigarillos would also have distinguished him. "He was a loyal and reliable person," says the former colleague. In his church services, he always responded to the situation of the people.
Most recently, he held masses in the parish of Schliersee. Since his retirement in 2014, he has worked as a pastor in Schliersee and Neuhaus. Here, too, he was able to deal well with the older generation, says Sinseder.
