At the end of August, storms caused severe damage in Swabia, with hail destroying roofs and damaged cars. Now the search for help is great.

Augsburg – It was a midsummer of extremes: In addition to days of heat waves, there were also some violent storms in Bavaria in the summer of 2023. Among other things, at the end of August, when not only Bad Bayersoien suffered from heavy hail and even declared a state of disaster – Swabia in the west was also hit hard by the Free State.

Businesses completely overrun – many people need help

About two weeks ago, Kissing, Aichach-Friedberg district, and Königsbrunn, Augsburg district, were hit by devastating hailstorms. Numerous roofs and cars were damaged, some of them severely. Now the roofers and car companies are literally overrun, reports chief master and guild spokesman Michael Voigt from Friedberg to the BR.

Here, people have to expect longer waiting times. Not only is there a lack of scaffolding and materials, but the companies are already in continuous use. As far as materials are concerned, the only thing that looks good is the bricks, according to the BR report – because these are sufficiently in stock due to the slump in new buildings.

Guild spokesman warns against fraudsters – do not get involved in door-to-door sales

While the desperation and impatience can understandably be great among the residents, they should not fall for scammers. Voigt warns against these "black sheep". He tells BR that he has already been given cases in which people have paid 100 euros per hour to repair hail damage. Therefore, he warns against door-to-door sales and advises to inform the guild or the police in case of uncertainty.
