A 42-year-old woman, Maria David, who with her father and brother had gone to free horses from the stable besieged by flames, in the Sala Verde area of Mazzaforno, near Cefalù, was found dead in a gully near the highway.
In the same area almost 700 tourists were evacuated from the Costa Verde hotel, the largest hotel in Cefalù, besieged by a disastrous fire. The hotel guests were taken to the sports hall. But it is a precarious and provisional solution. The Costa Verde is located near Mazzaforno where today some tourists guests of resorts have been evacuated by sea.
