Two judicial investigations were opened after a refusal to comply in which a police officer was seriously injured Thursday, September 22 in Sochaux (Doubs), said Friday the prosecutor's office of Montbéliard.
An investigation was opened on charges of attempted murder of a person holding public authority and refusal to comply and another for "violence with weapons" in connection with the shooting of a police officer.
Search for escape
Thursday, shortly before 19 p.m., a police officer of the Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC) of the Montbéliard police station "was seriously injured while participating, with two colleagues, in the arrest of a 22-year-old man" already convicted and the subject of a search warrant for escape, said the public prosecutor in a statement. One of the police officers used his service weapon, "shooting the wanted person in the hip," he detailed.
These facts occurred in the courtyard of the building of the parents of the young man sought, at the wheel of a vehicle with which he had refused to comply a few days earlier, managing to flee.
According to the first elements of the investigation, "despite the repeated injunctions of the police whose quality was apparent", the man, who was accompanied by his girlfriend, "would have started his vehicle in reverse from a garage box in which he was parked", hitting from the rear the policeman who tried to prevent him from fleeing, explains the prosecutor.
"Stuck under the chassis of the vehicle"
The officer was dragged "under the chassis of the vehicle". Despite his screams and new injunctions to stop, the young man would have continued his escape, this time from the front, hitting the vehicle of the BAC, "and taking away the victim trapped under the chassis". A police officer then allegedly "fired three times in the direction of the vehicle", which caused him to be immobilized.
The seriously injured police officer "was still trapped under the chassis of the vehicle when first aid arrived" and has since been hospitalized. His prognosis is not engaged and he could be heard as part of the investigation, says the prosecutor. He reportedly suffered "a double fracture of the left wrist, a fracture of the right shoulder blade, broken ribs and head trauma."
The arrested man underwent surgery Friday morning and was taken into custody in the early afternoon.
The police officer responsible for the shooting was heard Thursday night as part of a free hearing.
