This is bad news for household budgets. Insurance contract prices are expected to rise again next year, due in particular to inflation and the increase in claims. "The French must expect in 2024 price increases of their insurance that will revolve around inflation," warned in early September Adrien Couret, the CEO of the Aéma group (Macif, Abeille Assurances, Aésio ...).
Car contract premiums could increase by 4% to 5% on average on January 1, 2024, according to forecasts by several expert firms (Facts & Figures and Addactis). Increases comparable to, or even slightly lower than, inflation (4.9% year-on-year in August). But, more important than in 2023 (between 2.5% and 3% increase on average). It is true that a year ago, insurers had committed to Bercy to moderate rates for 2023, by not increasing them more than inflation.
