Italy is in shock after the sudden death of a nine-year-old. His football team commemorates him with a touching gesture.
Merano – The whole of Merano mourns the loss of the young Thiago. The boy from Colombia lived with his family in Merano. On Tuesday (12 September) he felt ill, something with his stomach, reports the Italian daily Alto Adige. After the nine-year-old had vomited, the mother brought him to the emergency room in the Merano hospital Tappeiner full of concern.

There, his health apparently deteriorated, so that he was transferred by helicopter to Verona on Thursday. In the night from Saturday to Sunday, he died there in hospital. What exactly led to the child's death is still unclear. Only an autopsy will provide information about this, according to Alto Adige.
Meanwhile, a fatal accident caused consternation on Lake Garda: A young woman from Brixen was a passenger on a motorcycle and was killed in a collision with an SUV.

What remains is bewilderment. Thiago was passionate about football and had started training with the amateur sports club ASD Olimpia Merano in recent weeks.
The sudden death hits his teammates and coaches hard. They all mourn the loss of their comrade. With a special gesture, they commemorate Thiago. A photo on the club's website and on Facebook shows her arm in arm on the football field. On the pitch they have placed "Thiago" in colorful letters, underneath in the midfield a red heart. "Bye bye Thiago, you will always remain in our hearts!" is the title of the photo.
